Puddingstone Park

Carved into a hillside of native puddingstone, this landscape celebrates the material character of the site by repurposing stone from on-site blasting into both architectural and garden masonry. Bluestone pathways and terraces circulate around the residence, creating smooth transitions between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape. Swaths of native plantings define the sequence of outdoor spaces and frame outward views across open green space, edged by a woodland backdrop.

Sculpted into a concave ledge, one of the property’s most distinctive spaces emerges: a bespoke outdoor fireplace paired with an integrated kitchen, layered with textured masonry and refined detailing. Overlooking this space, a secluded green roof above the garage connects to the property’s older formal gardens via a path of fieldstone steppers. The interplay between formal and contemporary elements introduces a thoughtful contrast, tying past and present together and bringing the site’s layered history to life.
