LEDGEWAY GARDENS
Nestled into a historic Brookline neighborhood, Ledgeway Gardens bridges a restored brick carriage house with a newly built New England Shingle Style home. The site’s natural puddingstone ledge was carefully sculpted and thoughtfully integrated into the landscape, with stone selectively repurposed for architectural masonry and garden elements—anchoring the project in its native material palette.
The design follows the land’s contours, unfolding in a series of stepped terraces that create a rhythm of outdoor rooms. Pathways connect these spaces, guiding movement and offering framed views, moments of gathering, and quiet connection to the surrounding woodland. Layered plantings soften the architecture, while native understory species add texture and seasonal variation. Stonework brings clarity to circulation and lends structure throughout the garden.
